Alpha Cat: News

Ysa Soundtrack on Itunes - May 13, 2010

Dear Cast, Crew, Friends and Family,

GREAT NEWS! After a considerable amount (and we mean considerable) of time and effort, YOUNG, SINGLE AND ANGRY is finally available to buy on iTunes for a mere $14.99.

We would love and appreciate if you can let your friends, family, neighbors, in-laws, frenemies, butchers, bakers, candlestick makers and anyone else you can think of, know about this great opportunity to see our film on their computer screens or Roku boxes.

It's been a long journey, and we're squeezin' every last bit we can out of it!

Thank you, as always, for your support.

Working on Venus' Smile - September 18, 2006

Working on Venus' Smile

Alpha Cat has been in the studio in Los Angeles since April working on the full length follow-up to 2002's critically acclaimed Pearl Harbor. The cd, entitled Venus Smile will have fifteen songs, and features such great musicians as Doug Pettibone of Lucinda Williams fame on guitar, Reggie McBride, a second generation Motown dude who's played with Stevie Wonder and others (Elton John anyone?) and Jason Smith on drums who's been known to tour with Five for Fighting. Also featured is Alpha Cat vet bass player Bill Kelter on several tunes, including "Mockingbird" which he cowrote.

Helping me (Elizabeth) with production and other drums is Jon Mattox (Young Dubliners) who is also supplying engineering duties and studio at his Bright Orange studios. The record will be a joint Aquamarine/Bright Orange studios release.

One of the tunes, titled "Every Day You Break My Heart" will also be featured in the upcoming indie film and soundtrack for "Young, Single and Angry. The cd will also be a Bright Orange release.

Look back soon for more details and music downloads!

Upcoming Warrior Girls/ Females on Fire record release party on Friday, August 26 in Los Angeles, California

Been asked to perform at the Warrior Girls/ Females on Fire record release party on Friday, August 26 at the Mint in LA. Looks like around 8:30 pm and it will be a full band set, so should rock quite sufficiently to make it worthwhile to cruise down to West Pico. Will be doing "Wichita" as featured on the cd, while the rest of the set will be somewhat loud - and as proud as is possible(!)

Please urge LA friends to come down - The more the merrier!

You can reserve tables at THE MINT, and should do so early enough as space for seating will be limited. Please contact the hostess, Deana Segretario, dseg@pacbell.net, or phone 323-954-9400, and let her know your request. The club will allow under 21 guests for the dinner time 7pm - 10pm as long as accompanied by adults or parents, so make sure and mention if you have youngsters coming. After 10pm they will not allow anyone under 21 to enter. For a look at the menu go to http://www.themint-la.com/menu.html.

HURRY HOME EARLY: A TRIBUTE TO WARREN ZEVON

...is finally out and selling at number 2 on CD Baby last I heard!
Feel free to request on your favorite radio station that isn't Clear Channel.

Have listened to the entire record and I've gotta say it's pretty damn good. A testament to Zevon's more pensive, melancholy side, with, remarkably, each artist adding their own flavor to the strong Zevon spirit of each tune.

My faves are: the Simple Things version of "I'll Slow You Down", the Matthew Show's, "Mohammed's Radio, Tom Flannery's "Boom Boom Mancini," and Simone Stevens and Jordan Zevon's "Warm Rain." Powerful songs which I was not aware of before, and very touching treatments.

Alpha Cat's version of "Reconsider Me" isn't half bad either, not in small part due to the contributions of Chris Butler's poignant bass, George Kapsalis' weepy slide guitar, and Derek Dragotis' gorgeous backing vocals..

Check it out and buy on CD Baby: http://cdbaby.com/cd/hurryhome
You won't regret it!
Hope to see you in LA....

We're Back Baby!

First of all: New website! Yay!

After a rather extended absence and a move to upstate New York, we are making our way back out of the wilderness with new music.

Working on a the followup to Pearl Harbor (Venus Smile) and a return to the stage, but in the meantime look for Alpha Cat on two new compilation albums.

"Hurry Home Early: The Songs of Warren Zevon" we are particularly proud of. A cover of his tune "Reconsider Me" includes some rather amazing help from Derek Dragotis, Chris Butler and George Kapsalis. Out soon.

The other is a disc called "Females on Fire" for Austrailia and LA's Gilli Moon's Warrior Girl Music which is not actually on fire, (though I was once at a party) but promises to be quite warm indeed. New song "Wichita" which has been very well received live for a bit now.

Samples up soon on the music page, so check back for that as well as other news and songs.
